How to Attach External subtitles to your MKV Videos?

"I want to attach SRT file to an MKV video. I don't want only to use the SRT file, but to make it part of the video. In this way I can watch the MKV video with subtitles."

Subtitles stem from a transcript or screenplay of the dialog or commentary in movies, TV shows, video games, etc, with file extensions in .srt, .sub, and .sbv. Usually displayed at the bottom of the screen, subtitles help viewers, who have hearing problems or cannot understand the language, to follow the dialog. Best Workaround for Blu-ray Region Codes - Remove Solutions

Question: Blu-ray region codes, is there a work around?
I live in the US and there are a few dvds i'd like to get from other regions (regions A, B, C) that aren't available here. I know if i use the media player that came on my computer (i'm using a Asus ZenPad 3s btw) i can only change it so many times before it's stuck like that. I've heard that with VLC it will play all the regions, does this work? I've never tested it out as i don't have the discs yet, or know anyone that has. If it doesn't work is there any alternatives i can do?

Source From: Bypassing Current Blu-ray Region Codes for Playing

Best Answer:

VLC does not yet support Blu-ray menus so you must manually select title to play. Not all Blu-ray movies are supported in the above free method, and VLC doesn't claim it would be work well with the latest macOS Sierra. If VLC still can’t help you play Blu-ray disc movie, or not work smoothly on macOS Sierra, you could purchase a Blu-ray Player(as far as I know over $39.95) or Rip Blu-ray to common format(you need a Blu-ray Ripper) for VLC or other common media player on Mac, like Mac default QuickTime Player.

So, we need to get a special program to assist you to bypass Blu-ray region code.

Brorsoft Blu-ray Ripper can not only remove DVD disc region code, but also remove Blu-ray disc region code well, just like the Blu-ray Player can play the DVD disc well. If you want to remove both Blu-ray and DVD disc region code, there is no harm in trying Blu-ray Ripper. Besides, applying Brorsoft Blu-ray Ripper, all commercial protected DVDs and Blu-rays can be ripped to nearly all popular video and audio formats like MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, AAC, MP3 as you need for playback on different devices, such as Android, iPhone(7), HDTV, etc.

How to Access Media from UPnP or DLNA using VLC

VLC can easily access media from UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) as well as DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance). The option is available in the View > Playlist section of the media player. UPnP and DLNA allow you to stream content over your local network. You can see televisions make use of this feature to access videos from your laptops and other devices supporting the standard. It’s like sharing the media content that you have on your computer or phone to other devices without the need to copy and move files. All of them should be connected to the same network or Wi-Fi.

If you have VLC on your computer, you will be accessing the files available via UPnP as well as DLNA. There should be another device sharing media files using this standard or protocol. It’s like a private network for audio and video files.

Here’s how you access media from UPnP or DLNA using VLC:

Open up VLC Media Player.
Go to View > Playlist [CTRL + L].
On the left under Local Network, click on Universal Plug’n’Play.
You’ll see a list of files or streaming networks listed on the left.
Browse through them and right click on them to Play, Stream or Add to Playlist.
You will be playing media from your network in some time.

Additional Tips:

If you have large number of Blu-ray disc and DVD discs, or you have record many clips about best memories, why not transfer them to DLNA certified devices and watch them on VLC anytime as you like?

Even thought, VLC plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols, you'd better rip the movies from Blu-ray and DVD disc and transcode the video files you recorded to common H.264 MP4 format, you will get the best experiences if you really do it.
