How to solve MTS to Edius incompatible issues

Summary: If you encountered problems when importing MTS files to Edius, you can follow this article to find the solution and solve it.

I am new to EDIUS and just have been using it for a few days. I got several short MTS files from a Sony camcorder and want to use Edius to edit them. When importing MTS to Edius, problem comes out- Edius cannot handle the MTS footage perfectly. What would be the best way to around the MTS to Edius issue?

Read through some posts online, I have found some similar (but not identical) problems like file import failure, no video playback, program crashed… After looking into this more, I know that the latest version Edius Pro 7 can support AVCHD, but when handling different kinds of MTS clips, problems still exist. The basic reason is that AVCHD is a ‘version’ of the MPEG-4 AVC specification or H.264, which is not an ideal editing format. To edit MTS files in EDIUS 5/6/7 in a flawless way, the best method is to transcode MTS to EDIUS more edit-friendly format.

First download Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter. With it, you can batch convert MTS files to EDIUS natively supported format without losing any quality. Plus, this MTS converter also supports converting MTS footage to Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Windows Movie Maker, After Effects, Premiere Elements and more to meet your different needs. Now, follow the step-by-step guide transcoding MTS files to EDIUS.

Steps to convert MTS videos to Edius acceptable format

Step 1. Add MTS files

Install and launch the MTS to EDIUS Converter, and then click “Add Video” button to import .mts, .m2ts files. You can check the “Merge into one file” to join multiple MTS videos together.

Step 2. Decide output format

Click the "Format" bar and select "Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MPEG-2 (*.mpg)" as output format on the drop-down menu. It ensures the smooth editing with Edius.

Tip: In case the default settings do not fit your requirement, you can click “Settings” button and enter “Profile Settings” panel to adjust video size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channels.

Step 3. Start MTS conversion

Click Convert button to start converting MTS file for Edius editing.

Once the conversion completes, you can click "Open" to find the output videos which can be directly imported to EDIUS. You've done. Now you can import and edit MTS files in EDIUS 5/6/7 without any issues.
